Real Clever Science

My name is Ari Einbinder. This is the journal of my travels into the realm of science and science education.
Currently I'm interning at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, and I'm also one of Tumblr's Science Section editors.

I discuss anything that fascinates me, but popular topics include evolution, transhumanism (e.g BCI), futurism, psychology, quantum computing, climate change, sustainability, genetic engineering and occasionally politics - to name a few.

Enjoy!

thebatsam asked: "even though he does perpetuate harmful stereotypes about scientists" Thank you for thinking this! Does that mean you dislike Big Bang Theory as much as I do? I know a lot of scientists who love the show and don't have any problems with it, but I think the way the characters are portrayed is awful.

Well, I’m not a big fan of Big Bang Theory but mostly because it just seems too sitcom-ish.

But yeah, also an excellent example of perpetuating the out-of-touch-awkward-white-guy-(mad)-scientist stereotype.

Hmm… It’s kind of like being able to laugh at stereo-types of your own culture. I’m Jewish, and generally strongly dislike the stereotypes about Jewish people, but every now and then I’ll find a  portrayal that I’ll find amusing. Which I guess is interesting in itself. hmm..
