Real Clever Science

My name is Ari Einbinder. This is the journal of my travels into the realm of science and science education.
I've worked at science museums in NY (NYSCI and AMNH) and across Europe. Currently I'm studying "museology" (aka museum studies) at UW in Seattle, WA. I'm also one of Tumblr's Science Section editors.

I discuss anything that fascinates me, but popular topics include evolution, transhumanism (e.g BCI), futurism, psychology, quantum computing, climate change, sustainability, genetic engineering and occasionally politics - to name a few.

Enjoy!

The Virus That Really Will Kill Your PC July 9
It sounds like one of those annoying chain emails that show up from technically challenged acquaintances: “The FBI Will Take Your Computer Offline July 9 If It Has A Virus! Visit This Site Immediately To Check!! Forward This To Everyone You Know!!!”
But the Federal Bureau of Investigation really has posted a warning on its site about the risk of “DNSChanger” malware, which really will result in your computer getting disconnected from the Web on July 9 if you don’t clean it up. You won’t be able to go online, and you’ll need to contact your service service provider for help getting the malware deleted before you can reconnect to the Internet.

Just a heads up. Make sure your antivirus is up to date and back-up your stuff!! (We all have one of those horrible “I lost all my data!” stories.)
(Also, people who make viruses should be locked away for a very long time… with no computer access. Sorry, I just have almost no sympathy for those types.)
